Winning combinations endure. Fifty years after Alec Issigonis introduced his Mini concept and John Cooper won his first F1 world championship comes the MINI John Cooper Works World Championship 50 – the ultimate special edition MINI.
Drawing on the esteemed racing history of its predecessors, this halo MINI is limited to just 500 units worldwide, making it the most exclusive MINI model ever produced. Only 10 will reach Australian shores, including the much sought after #500.
Continuing the Cooper legacy, John Cooper's son, Mike, was consulted throughout the design process to guarantee authenticity, and John Cooper’s signature will appear on each car. The carefully selected custom Connaught Green colour body with bonnet stripes is reminiscent of a time when the Coopers’ racing influence was at its height in the ’50s and ’60s. The prestige theme continues throughout the interior: carbon fibre trim, black lounge leather accented by red piping, and coordinated knee rolls and arm rests. It really is a MINI like no other.
The racing power extends to the engine design – a 1.6L four-cylinder unit with twin-scroll turbocharger straight from the John Cooper Works Challenge racecars. The WC50 does standstill-to-100km/h in 6.5 seconds, for a top speed of 238km/h, and all with an average fuel consumption of just 6.9L per 100 kilometres.
